Aluminum Boat Trailers

Aluminum Boat Trailer

Aluminum boat trailers are available in all sizes and budgets, but regardless of what style you have, there are several things you need to know about storing your trailer during the off season.

Proper maintenance for any boat trailer dictates that keeping the wheel bearings in good working order is crucial to making sure your trailer is up to snuff season after season. Given that bearings account for nearly ninety percent of the problems people have with most all boat trailers, a little attention goes a long way. You can do a little background reading on bearing lube systems to help maintain your trailer on our Axles page, but keep these tips in mind above everything else.

1)Take the trailer’s tires off when you pull it out of commission for the season. Look carefully hubs, bearings, and races for damage. Replace parts as necessary. This is also the perfect time to inspect brakes as well.

2)Don’t allow your trailer to simply sit for weeks or months at a time. If you must, jacking it up on jack stands can really save your tires.

3)Check the Axle springs for damage when you pull the boat trailer in for the season

For most people, buying a simple and durable aluminum boat trailer is the first thing they do once they buy a boat, but if yours is a bit worn out, there is a wide range of new trailers you can choose from. Check back soon for some important buying tips……
