Car Hauler Trailers

Car hauler trailers come in all sizes and budgets these days. The one thing they all have in common is that when you research your purchase before you make it, you know you’ll be getting a quality, well made product. One of the most difficult parts of dealing with car trailers, though, no matter what product you have chosen, is the sway factor.

You can read more about trailer sway control here, but one of the best ways to control the sway of car trailers is to employ some of these trailer driving and loading tactics.

First, remember that adding car trailers to the driving equation means, obviously, having extra weight. Adding that weight on your trailer in the wrong place can cause excessive trailer sway. If you load your trailer with to much weight to the rear it can cause a see-saw effect which will intensify sway. Always keep about 10-15 percent tongue weight for optimum towing.

Second, remember that the faster you go, the more sway can happen. Traveling at reduced speeds is your safest bet. Finally, if you do encounter a problem, applying the trailer brakes slightly should straighten you right up.
