Trailer Air Ride Suspension

Trailer air ride suspension systems offer a wide variety of benefits. You should expect to pay more for these systems, but the price is well worth it. Many trucking companies will choose these systems, as it allows a smoother ride. A rough ride that causes cargo to shift or fall will result in a loss of money for the company in damaged goods and cargo. These systems are also good for livestock trailers as well.

Trailer air ride suspension systems allow for precision braking and more control on the road. This allows for reduced motion in your cargo, whether it is boxed loads or animals. These systems are also able to adjust to the weight of your load by adding or subtracting air pressure controlled by the ride height valve. The heavier the load the more the suspension compresses and the more air pressure the ride height valve gives to the air springs or bags.

These suspension systems offer maximum ride comfort regardless of whether or not the trailer is loaded. The air spring technology replaces the traditional steel leaf springs. They are able to automatically level, reduce wheel hopping, trailer bucking and swaying. Braking distances are typically shorter with air ride suspensions due to the tires being more firmly planted during the braking action.

These air suspension systems can be used on a wide variety of trailers including:

* Horse and livestock* Cargo trailers* Large RV trailers* Semi-trailers

In an air ride suspension system a rubber-fabric bag holds the air. The top of the bag is attached to a metal plate that connects to the vehicle’s frame. The bottom of this bag rests on the suspension assembly. When weight is loaded into the trailer the ride height valve will automatically open and compressed air flows into the bag to support the weight of that axle. This raises the trailer to the proper ride height. When the weight is removed, the valve will exhaust the air and hold the trailers deck height to a consistent level. This system can maintain a trailers smooth ride regardless of its load.
